Today, I’d like to talk about my favourite makeup and beauty products for the month of April. Already reaching May is a scary thought! This year has gone unbelievably quickly. My favourites for April include a couple of gifts, new purchases and rediscovered products from my kit.
Mac vanilla pigment
This is a product I found hiding in my kit, which was purchased some time ago. I recently fell back in love with this when it was spotted in the back of one of my drawers. This pigment is great as a staple highlight for the brow bone and inner corner of the eye. However it is too iridescent to be used as a cheek highlight for daytime. Having very reflective properties I find it to be a bit “Rue Paul” for my taste. Opting for my lightscapade mineralize skin finish also by Mac for a cheek highlight. You only need a very small amount, the less is more approach with this product is ideal.
Vaseline Intensive care spray moisturiser (advanced strength)
I was lucky enough to try this product after hearing about how it was used backstage at MBFW for the Kirrily Johnston show. The designer wanted the models to have dewy and fresh skin – encapsulating the essence of her Aurelian collection. In the past I had used similar moisturisers, loving the concept of a ‘spray on the go’ formula. But they all left behind a greasy residue after application. The Vaseline advanced strength spray moisturiser is actually amazing.
[spacer]It is lightweight, non-greasy and your skin can still breathe unlike many traditional body moisturisers. It feels cool and refreshing, like your skin is receiving a drink of water. After application it leaves the skin with a soft dewy glow. Appearing hydrated and healthy. This is a perfect everyday moisturiser for all skin types and would especially suit the time poor and forgetful. This sits in my handbag because I can sometimes fall under both of those categories ha-ha. You can purchase this at your local priceline or any store that stocks the Vaseline range.
The browtech is an old favourite of mine, the compact in taupe/soft brown sits on my vanity permanently. This was one of my first brow products I owned as a teenager and I still repurchase it. It comes in a trio – with 2 shades of brow powder and brow wax to tame those unruly hairs. The two shades of powder match my eyebrows and white blonde hair so well. Which is why I think I keep going back to it.
Boe Professional – Pro finish BB cream and concealer
So glad I found this company! The brand was one of the sponsors for Obsessions 2015 Beauty Blogger event. I was lucky enough to receive their BB cream in my goodie bag and I loved it so much I have gone down to Big W and bought a second shade. This is so I can alternate BB cream shades between spray tans. This beauty balm offers what I would call a medium coverage and doubles as a moisturiser. It has quite a dewy look, which is perfect for ‘no makeup’ makeup days. Sometimes I add a bit of powder over the top if I’m looking for further coverage. Seriously you cannot go wrong with the price! Which is around the $12 mark. It’s a new essential and I don’t feel guilty if I go through this quickly.
Eylure lashes – texture 117
Absolutely loving the Eylure range lately, which I pick up from Woolworths every time I go to the shops. I have been trying to wear eyelashes more and more frequently and these are currently my favourite style – the texture 117. It’s a wispy style of lash, with a natural glamorous feel about them. Meaning I can wear these day and night. I am not a fan of the really thick black lashes some girls wear. They look like two little black umbrellas shading their eyes. These are also really easy to apply because they bend easily to suit your eye shape.
