I have been using products from Gorgeous Cosmetics for 2 and a half years now, so I was absolutely delighted when they sent me this great parcel of goodies. Gorgeous Cosmetics is an Australian brand that has been apart of the industry for over a decade. It surprises me that a lot of people still don’t know about them. So I’ve put together an in depth review of all the products I received.
The eye shadows I received came in two 8-pan palettes, both are amazing. I actually own 2 other eye shadow palettes by Gorgeous so I was thrilled to add these to my collection. The Neon palette is a collection of bright, fun and high-pigmented colours. There are a number of colours including red, yellow, orange, blue, purple, green, pink and brown. It’s a great addition to your kit if you love really creative and bright makeup looks. Also as a makeup artist, a palette like this is essential. You can mix shades together or use them as block colours…think of it like being a painter. The most important colours you need are the primary colours. You never know when you may get asked to do makeup with a really different style to your standard beauty clientele. Especially for photo shoots this type of palette is a must have.
The second palette is the ‘ever metallic’ palette, which is now my new favourite out of all 4 palettes I own. It comes with 8 lovely metallic shadows, with an iridescent shimmer. They are more transparent when swatched than the other shadows because of the luminous finish. There are a variety of metallic tones including silver, gold, bronze, rose gold, white, brown, taupe and grey. When I do my eye makeup I often layer matte shadows and then usually put a pearlized shimmer in the inner corner and on the brow bone. So this palette is really useful no matter what look you are doing, there is metallic shade, which will suit a variety of looks. I am absolutely in love with the rose gold eye shadow in shade ‘so nice’. It is the prettiest mixture of peach and gold pigment. If you cannot afford to get a whole palette, I’d definitely pick up this shade to add to a look or even just a colourwash over the whole eye with this looks amazing.
The package also came with 3 lipsticks and a couple of lip liners. I had never tried any of these shades before so it was really exciting to test these out. I do however have several Gorgeous Cosmetic lipsticks from my time at the Academy of Makeup in 2013. The formula is very creamy and has a really even consistency. I like the feel of these lipsticks a lot better then Mac lipsticks. As I get super dry lips and cannot handle some lipsticks because they are so drying on me. They have a lustrous finish but its not too shiny, they are just really good every day lipsticks.
The shades of lipstick I received are Jellybean, whimsy and musk stick. Jellybean is such a cool vibrant grape colour. I would totally rock this for a night out, especially coming into winter we start to stray away from the usual peachy pinks. Opting for a purple tone I think would be quite stylish.
The shade Musk stick is my absolute favourite I wore it on the night of my birthday party last week, it is SO me. A perfect Barbie pink. I can see myself wearing this shade everyday. I’m not sure why its called musk stick though, because to me musk stick would be more of a nude light pink shade. So I was quite surprised when I actually opened it to find this gorgeous hot pink. But I am not complaining at all…Going to use musk stick all day everyday ha-ha. They also put in a lip liner in shade china doll. China doll is a perfect match for this colour but could also be placed under the Jelly Bean lipstick as well. I can see myself going through china doll and musk stick so quickly.
The third shade is Whimsy. It swatches as a nude pink with brown undertones. Much like the Mac Velvet teddy! This is totally a dupe for the lipstick Kylie Jenner wears. My only wish is that I had lips as big as hers to go with the lipstick ha-ha. So if you were finding that Mac velvet teddy is drying your lips out, this would be an awesome alternative. Whimsy also came with an amazing beige lip liner in Qiana that matches perfectly. Or you could wear it on its own with a lip gloss on top.
Out of the entire Gorgeous cosmetics range, the most amazing product would have to be their Colour flash shimmer dusts. I love having these in my kit, they are such pigmented shimmers but the glitter doesn’t fall out everywhere like a lot of brands I’ve tried. The pigment is really fine, which I think is why it sticks and blends so well. These look amazing on the eyes and are so much more pigmented than normal shadows. Wearing these out at night time will definitely get you noticed. The two shades I received were Mardis gras and Opal. Both are incredible shades. Mardigras is the hot pink shimmer pictured below and the name Opal speaks for itself. The pictures really don’t do the Colour flashes justice. They are so much sparklier in person.
Another favourite was the Gorgeous Cosmetics iLine eyeliner pen. I much prefer this to their cake eyeliner. I will be repurchasing this for sure. The iLine pen is comparable to the Stila and Maybelline master precise pens. But for my smaller eyes this one is a little thicker and easier to work with than Maybelline’s one giving a really dramatic feline look.
The lashes I received were so lovely as you will see in the photo below where I used them. I think for special occasions these would be great, however as a makeup artist I think $18.00 per set is just too pricey for my kit or to wear day to day. As I know a lot of you are in the beauty industry yourselves, I did a bit of research and found out that Gorgeous Cosmetics actually does a Pro discount for professionals! This discount is up to 40% off their entire range! Woohoo! If you want more information on this you can find this on their website. This entire look below was created with Gorgeous Cosmetics products.
Lastly is the Base perfect foundation in shade 1N. This foundation has a medium coverage and I apply it with a duo fibre brush to create a flawless even finish. It has more of a dewy look without adding any setting powder. I’d consider it a great option for daytime wear. The only downside is that for all my very pale gals out there, you wont be able to find a colour match light enough. I rock this foundation when I have a spray tan in the light shades 1n, 1b and 2n depending on how dark I is. This is my designated fake tan foundation. I own about 9 different shades of this and also use it to contour sometimes in shade 3D.
I hope this review was helpful to guys that are or are not familiar with the Gorgeous Cosmetics range. Let me know if you use Gorgeous Cosmetics or want to see a MOTD using their products. Big thankyou to the Gorgeous Cosmetics team for sending me this lovely package!
