Today I will be sharing with you my foundation wardrobe! Usually when my friends snoop around in my makeup room they always seem so shocked by the large scale of my foundation collection. I have tried, collected and stored many foundations, in several shades and brands for myself. (This collection does not include any of the foundations I use on clients.) Foundation is an absolute essential product inside any girl’s makeup bag. It comes in varying types and shades to suit your skin type and preferences. Here are some of my tested and most used foundations!

Dior Star

Dior Star is one of my favourite foundations for a luminous and lightweight glow. If you can afford to part with a few extra dollars, the quality of the product is definitely worth the money. The foundation has a light – medium coverage and a luminous and dewy finish. It can be comparable to the Giorgio Armani Luminous Silk foundation, but a lot more dewy and thicker in consistency! This is also great go-to foundation for the dryer skin types, rather than an oily skin due to the high sheen finish. I would be staying away from this foundation on a night where there would be lots camera flashes and hot lights! Dior Star is my weapon of choice for daytime special occasions.

Boe Beauty BB cream

This is a wonderful budget foundation/bb cream. In most cases, I would steer clear of the budget makeup! But this product has really changed my perspective about the quality of low-end makeup, and I see myself willing to try out these cheaper alternatives because of the positive experience I’ve had with Boe Beauty. The BB cream has a medium – buildable coverage, which helps to mask any uneven skin tones and gives the skin a natural fresh glow. This product is my go-to foundation for no makeup days or when I’m heading down the beach.

Gorgeous Cosmetics Base Perfect

Base perfect is a foundation I came across when studying at the Academy of Makeup. At the time I loved it! But unfortunately I cannot wear these often anymore. These foundations are too dark for my skin tone and sadly I only put these to good use when I have an epic spray tan ha-ha! The formula is a light – medium coverage that can be buildable to your desired look. The foundation isn’t drying on the skin, and doesn’t appear ‘cakey’.

Estee Lauder Double Wear

This foundation was my most recent “Holy Grail” foundation. However, Estee Lauder’s double wear has quickly become a loved/hated product in my collection. The foundation offers very full coverage and great concealment for blemish prone/uneven skin types. The difference it makes is incredible if you are suffering from a lack of self-confidence due to your skin. The foundation is also oil free which is perfect for those who suffer from troubling breakouts. What I also loved about this foundation is the wear time throughout the day. In fact the product stays on so well that it can actually be a tricky foundation to remove at the end of the day. The foundation had a noticeably large affect on my skin and breakouts become more regular. This is a product I would highly recommend for special occasions, flash photography and lasting power. However, I would not recommend this product for everyday use as the skin has troubles handling it.

Napoleon Perdis China Doll

The China Doll foundation is a medium to full coverage foundation with an SPF 15+. The formula is oil free and appears rather ageing on the skin. I would not suggest using a coloured powder over the top of this, as it will appear very ‘cakey’. This isn’t a favourite foundation or one I reach for regularly.

Becca Ultimate Coverage Complexion Crème

This was a foundation I started using recently and it has become my new favourite for everyday wear. I love this foundation because it is full coverage, yet doesn’t appear or feel cakey on the skin. It has a very creamy and smooth texture that needs to be buffed into the skin well. For best results use a duo fibre brush to apply. The high water content in the Becca Ultimate Coverage Complexion Crème gives it a lightweight and hydrating feel. The lasting power isn’t as good as your Estee lauder double wear, but feels so much better on the skin.

Mac Cosmetics Studio Fix foundation

The studio fix foundation is a very popular foundation because of its full coverage formula. I used to use this when I was first starting makeup and I seriously thought it was the ‘bees knees’. These days I am a lot more conservative with my makeup application and prefer a more natural looking foundation. Its one of those products that ‘is what it is’ – it serves a valuable purpose but its not a favourite of mine.
