The contour trend took the beauty world by storm in 2014. Now it is only fair that we have found a new craze to balance out all of this contour! Instead of deepening and defining the face we can now accentuate the features, giving a 3 dimensional affect to the skin, as well as lightening. Highlighting is nothing new to most makeup artists, but the term ‘strobing’ is the new word trending. For 2015, highlight is in and contour is out. Personally for me I believe contouring will never go out of style, it is a useful tool to change to shape of features the face. But I do think there needs to be a lot less of it! So today I will be discussing my favourite 3 highlighters and giving you information of the best ‘strobing’ products I’ve found.

Ambient Lighting Palette

The crème de la crème of highlighters! Hourglass Cosmetics Ambient lighting palette is a game changing highlight palette for all beauty lovers out there. The concept behind this palette is that you can use each shade to create a ‘studio lighting’ effect. Using three complimentary shades with ‘photo luminescent technology’ it creates a luminated and radiant finish.

Dim light – a peach and beige toned highlighter that is used for the centre panel of the face and can be used sparingly across the entire face.

Incandescent light – My favourite colour! A perfect pearl shade, that is used for traditional highlighting spots e.g. brow bone, top of the cheek, inner corner of the eye and bridge of the nose. I highly recommend the incandescent light for fair skin tones.

Radiant light – A golden beige tone that provides a sun-kissed glow. This is recommended to be used in contour hot spots e.g. under the cheekbones, temples and to contour the jaw or nose.

MAC mineralize skin finish in Lightscapade

The MAC mineralize skin finish range contains 6 highly pigmented powders that create a ‘high-frost sheen’ and are a multi-toned formula. My absolute favourite is shade ‘Lightscape’ a beautiful pearl based toned that creates the ultimate highlight shade for fair skin. I tend to reach for this the most out of any highlighter in my kit because I prefer cool toned highlighters rather than gold or warm tones. It is also a beauty favourite of Australian beauty guru Loz Curtis! I watched one of her videos and instantly went out and bought this product.

Laura Mercier Indiscretion Face Illuminator

This highlighter is a new edition to my kit. Which was apart of Laura Mercier’s June limited edition Un Été À Ibiza Collection. It is a rose gold shade highlighter that puts the 3-d aspect of highlighter in a literal form, the packaging! The packaging reminds me of Ocean waves, it is absolutely stunning. This shade is very unique and perfect for times when I have a fake tan.
